You cannot say someone is with BSP, MRF if they are not with Ataka, CEDB: Valeri Simeonov

10 November 2009 | 14:38 | Focus

Burgas. We no longer recognize Ataka party as a political entity. Its actions in Sofia in the past four months are unexplainable, to put it mildly. They do not correspond to the party’s principles and program and are absolutely in favor of the governing party, Valeri Simeonov, who left the group of Ataka municipal councilors in the coastal city of Burgas, told FOCUS News Agency.

Reneta Veneva: Regulation on volunteer activity needed in Bulgaria

9 November 2009 | 17:47 | FOCUS News Agency

National Alliance for Volunteer Action Executive Director, Reneta Veneva tells FOCUS News Agency about volunteer activity in Bulgaria and about some upcoming initiatives for the International Volunteer Day .

Focus: Ms Veneva, tell us please what sort of people are there at the National Alliance for Volunteer Action?
Reneta Veneva: Soon we will be celebrating 5 December, the International Volunteer day (IVD). Every year at that time we commence our big national campaign with Focus Agency for enlisting more young people, who would, with their volunteer action, change their community: school, firm, local park. NAVA includes 24 volunteer centers around Bulgaria. Volunteers enlisted range in age from 14 to 84 years. We provide services to young and old related to social activities, environment and education on the territory of 18 municipalities. Volunteers at our organization undergo special training in order to acquire the competence to provide quality services to the people we care after. We have volunteers working at hospitals – surgical, neurological and pediatric wards. We have about 400 volunteers in 6 towns working at orphanages. These young people too undergo special training for work with children in risk. One of out priorities over the past year has been volunteer action at school and development of programmes for volunteer work by young people at their own schools and with their own schoolmates. We regard volunteer action as a good opportunity for informal training and education as volunteers have certain skills in teamwork, aversion of conflicts, promoting of initiative. Thus a volunteer becomes a serious partner to the school through behaviour and action. We’re currently working very seriously with six schools on the territories of Plovdiv, Varna, Gabrovo and Haskovo.
