Growth registered in the demand for Tamiflu, pharmaceuticals that stimulate the immune system, vitamins and antibiotics

10 November 2009 | 17:24 | FOCUS News Agency

FOCUS News Agency talked to Radoslava Ganozova, Corporate Communications Director of Actavis-Bulgaria, with regards to the humanitarian aid that Actavis provided on Monday for Ukraine

FOCUS: Ms Ganozova, Actavis provided aid to Ukraine. What does the aid include and what is the quantity of the pharmaceuticals that you gave?
Radoslava Ganozova: I would like to stress that Actavis was the first pharmaceutical company in Bulgaria that responded to the request of the Ukrainian Embassy for humanitarian aid. We managed to organize very fast and expediently the donation, as the whole organization was done in the frames of about 3 days. The donation includes polyvitamins, cough syrups and antibiotics and amounts to BGN 60,000. We really hope that we would be able to help as many people as possible.

FOCUS: Have you registered some growth in the orders placed with you for pharmaceuticals to your distributing company Higia after the appearance of the flu illnesses?
Radoslava Ganozova: Yes, there is certainly a growth in the number of orders for pharmaceuticals regarding the flu illnesses. Of course, we register an increase in the number of orders for Tamiflu. I shall point here that quantities of this medicine are already available in the Sofia-based store of Higia and supplies are on their way to the stores around the country. These quantities are smaller than the preliminary ordered, but we have the confirmation of the producing company that we would receive regularly additional quantities by the end of the week. There is a higher demand for medicines that stimulate the immune system, vitamins, and we also register a certain increase in the demands for antibiotics, but this is quite normal for this season. We would do everything possible to provide anti-flu masks as well, as there is currently shortage on the market for such masks.
