Greece on Thursday offered a million euro (1.5 million dollar) bounty for the perpetrators of an acid attack that seriously injured a Bulgarian unionist last year, a police source said, cited by AFP.
The 43-year-old trade unionist Constantina Kouneva, general secretary of Athens' association of cleaners, was attacked near her home on December 23 by unknown assailants who poured acid on her face and down her throat.

Peni Boteva: Stockbreeders unhappy with 2010 budget and prone to go out on protest in January

11 November 2009 | 11:41 | FOCUS News Agency

Bulgarian Stockbreeders Association President Peni Boteva comments on 2010 budget for agriculture in an interview with FOCUS News Agency.

FOCUS: Ms Boteva, what are stockbreeders’ opinion about the Agriculture and Food Ministry’s budget for next year? Are some of the farmers unhappy with the scarce finances envisioned for the industry for 2010?
Peni Boteva: From what I saw on my recent travels around the country there are quite a few unhappy farmers, ready to protest. The budget drawn for 2010 is considerably smaller than the 2009 budget. Most of the resources will be adopted by the ministry administration rather than by Bulgarian stockbreeders.

FOCUS: Are intentions for protest serious?
Peni Boteva: I think the State Agriculture Fund will manage to beguile stock-farmers with the 61 million that will be paid in December if such payment is made. People are waiting for this payment but still farmers will be out on protest next January and February, as they simply will have nothing to feed their cattle with.

FOCUS: Won’t that be too late with An already passed budget. The draft budget is still being discussed at the parliamentary commissions and has not yet been passed on first reading.
Peni Boteva: We attended one of the parliamentary commissions and we were disappointed to learn that the Minister had approved the amounts defined – about 60 mln for stock-farmers and 270 mln for grain-farmers. Meanwhile the Ministry administration is set at 308 mln for 2010 while in 2009 it amounted to 490 mln.
