President for the power
25 November 2009 | 06:56 |
Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov has appeared at Slavi’s Show on BTV television. Parvanov has answered questions about the rumors on the establishment of his party, has commented the budget as well as the statement of the interior minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov Parvanov and leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Ahmed Dogan has stand behind the establishment of LIDER political party.
If I want to set up a party, to realize political project believe me-I would not hide behind someone else. Interior minister should collect information about bosses of organized crime except for the President, he said.

President shows definiteness as far as disagreements with govt are concerned: political scientist
Sofia. The split between the government and president’s office is growing every time the government tries to behave as a greater power than the president, says political scientist Associate Professor Tatyana Burudzhieva.
In an interview with FOCUS News Agency she says that the finance minister’s withdrawal of the money from the banking account of the President’s Office could be accepted as a direct reason or the last straw that breaks the camel’s back as far as Georgi Parvanov’s interview with Slavi Show on bTV television is concerned.
At the weekend media reports announced that the finance ministry emptied the bank account of the President’s Office. On Sunday Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov refuted the information, saying a technical error occurred. On Monday President Georgi Parvanov confirmed the bank account was emptied.
Burudzhieva says that when there is a high-profile dispute and tension the president usually resorts to direct appearance on the television.
In this interview he showed definiteness and seriousness as far as the disagreements with the government’s positions are concerned. His interview reveals the issue is not current, but a tendency for relations between the institutions, she says.

Bulgarian President will set up party alternative to BSP, CEDB simultaneously: OLJ chairman
Sofia. I will not be surprised if President Parvanov borrows from Prime Minister Boyko Borisov some practices of giving interviews with all media and on all topics. In this way the first two men in the state will become action media front men and most people will ask themselves who will govern the state, but I do not know whether someone will be able to answer this question, Order, Law and Justice Chairman Yane Yanev told FOCUS News Agency.
He was asked to comment on President Georgi Parvanov’s interview with Slavi Show on bTV television channel.
Yanev says last night’s interview was following “a scenario and that could hardly escape the unbiased audience.”
The scenario aimed at showing Parvanov as a victim to Borisov’s government and, on the other hand, to be a political alternative. This version was developed by Rumen Petkov, said Yanev.
He says Georgi Parvanov will not only set up a party, but from the very beginning it will be an alternative to Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) simultaneously.
And then if this party gains speed, we will again witness substitution of the vote, because it might reach behind-the-scene agreements with those it worked against, he added.

President should work for consolidation of the institutions, not to disunite: interior minister
Sofia. In my opinion those cross talks are not good for the institutions, said interior minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov commenting on the statement of Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov in its interview to Slavi’s Show on BTV television, FOCUS News Agency reporter informed.
“I do not want to be the man who will comment the words of the President. In my opinion there have been enough interpretations in public for people and events who have financed and sponsored both his and the campaign of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. However, I do not want to enter this crosstalk, because this is not good for the Bulgarian institutions. I want the President’s institution and the executive power, legislative bodies, judiciary system to work for the interest of the society. The society should judge the work of the institutions. I wish him personal success and I do not consider that what I observe over the past few weeks should continue-moreover, initiated by the President. I have not thought President could have such campaign and such policy, head of state of all Bulgarians,” Tsvetan Tsvetanov said.
Tsvetajnov said further the President should work for the consolidation of the institutions and to be a consolidator as representatives of the President’s power, not a person who has disunited and set the institutions against each other.

President does not wan to enter into personal fight with PM: sociologist
Sofia. Participation of the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov in Slavi’s Show on BTV has been a surprise to a certain distance. The President can allow more semi-officials forums, not so popular. This is what sociologist Kolyo Kolev, director of Merdiana sociological agency Kolyo Kolev said for FOCUS News Agency.
“This is not the first politician, who attends this show. Despite the sharp retorts between the President and the Prime Minister (PM) Boyko Borisov, Georgi Parvanov has not allowed himself mentioning the name of the Prime Minister. This is something, which has continued during President’s appearance in the Show. Thus he wants to explain his critics are not personal but critics towards the governing style and methods. The President doers not want to enter into a personal fight with the PM,” Kolev said further.
Commenting on President’s statement for interior minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov and financial minister Simeon Dyankov, sociologist said this is understandable.
“It seems like the interior minister has left the scene of the professionalism as deputy prime minister and has taken the role of a politician with the attacks towards President’s participation in the formation of LIDER party. This is in the competence of a politician not interior minister. In reference to Simeon Dyankov his statement on kangaroos has been tactless to say the least but absolutely mad,” he said further.
