Macedonian companies will be actively involved in the project’s realisation, which will be beneficial to Macedonia’s economy and will lead to a growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) in the years while the project is realised – until 2022. The project is estimated at about EUR 527 million, which is only in terms of construction, and this is a sum which has never been invested in the Macedonian railway infrastructure, [even] by all the previous governments as a whole. Cooperation with Bulgaria in economic respects will be improved through the project’s realisation, trade will be developed as well as merchandise exchange and the whole project will greatly contribute to the economic significance of the entire region.
