Spokesperson of the Prosecutor General, Rumyana Arnaudova, announced the news for FOCUS News Agency.
The Prosecutor’s Office explained that a copy of the protocol will be obtained later on today and there would be more detailed information about the motives.
Later on during the day the press office of Vidin Municipality issued a press release with an official position on the issue.
Mayor of the Bulgarian town of Vidin, Gergo Gergov, will file a request for annulment of the ruling of the Sofia City Court, which ordered his dismissal from the post of mayor.
For the time period until Mr Gergov is absent, his functions will be assigned to Deputy Mayor engineer Dobromir Dilov.
On August 1 Prosecutor’s Office raised three charges against Mayor of Vidin Gergo Gergov. He was arrested on July 31, 2014 within the course of a special operation carried out by the newly established unit to fight corruption with Sofia City Prosecutor's Office and State Agency National Security (SANS).
Vidin Mayor is charged under Art. 282, para. 2, Art. 282, para. 1, and Art. 26, para. 1 of the Penal Code because in the period 1.01.2012 - 15.7.2014, in his capacity as officer he deliberately violated their duties under the Public Procurement Act in connection with a contract for the supply of food products for offices by the budget of Vidin Municipality. The aim was to obtain a single company, which was paid with local funds. This has caused substantial implications in the amount of BGN 150,000 and non-material damages, resulting in shaking public confidence in local government.
The second charge against Gergov is under art. 278, para. 6 that on July 31, 2014 at his home in the town of Vidin he has illegally stored 15 ancient coins from the Roman imperial period, representing archaeological items and cultural - historical values.
The third charge against Gergov is under art. 339, para. 1 of the Penal Code - that of July 31, 2014 at his home was found 152 cartridges without the proper authorization.
Gergov is released on bail at the amount of BGN 30 000. He is banned for leaving the borders of the Republic of Bulgaria, without permission of the prosecutor.
