The amendments were passed with 117 votes “for”, 4 votes “against”, while 2 MPs abstained.
The text in question says that a person, who recruits, transports, shelters a person or group of people and lets them cross the border of the country, will be punished with 5 to 12 years in jail and a financial fine of BGN 15,000 to BGN 20,000.
The parliament also adopted a measure saying that when the action is a dangerous recidivism or is committed at the order or in implementation of a decision of an organised crim group the penalty to be of 7 to 15 years in jail and a fine of up to BGN 100,000.
Another text says that a person, who forms or masters and organised crime group to be punished with 5 to 15 years in jail. A person, who participates in such an organised crime group, will be punished with 3 to 10 years in jail.
