Sofia. “Bulgaria and Russia will work together again for 40% growth in the number of Russian tourist arrivals in Bulgaria during the 2017 summer season.”
This is what Bulgarian outgoing Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova said speaking for Radio FOCUS after her meeting with Oleg Safonov, Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation during her official working visit to Moscow.
“What is important is for the growth registered in 2016 to be present in 2017, too and to fight for 40% growth again. This will be a huge success. There is potential for this to happen and it is important for us to continue the cooperation between Russia and Bulgaria, to continue advertising the Bulgarian tourist product.
It is important for Bulgaria to continue its active presence at the Russian tourist market and take part in the big exhibition despite the political situation in our country. We continue the organisation of round-table discussions with representatives of the sector and the local powers on the issues concerning the tourism between Bulgaria and Russia.
We should continue promoting children’s tourism and children’s camps, cultural heritage tourism, balneological and SPA tourism, and developing concrete routes for the Russian tourists.
The efforts should continue so as to achieve good results again.
We should preserve the facilitated visa regime for Russian tourists and continue working for further facilitation,” the outgoing minister commented.
According to Ms Angelkova, if the efforts are continued and built on, Bulgaria can again become No 1 destination for family holiday for Russian tourists.
“Mr Safonov stressed on the efforts of the Bulgarian government in terms of guaranteeing the security of Russian tourists in Bulgaria. We undertook this engagement last year at a meeting between Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Mr Safonov,” Nikolina Angelkova remarked.
