Korneliya Ninova: My nomination as vice president of the Socialist International is a recognition for Bulgaria first, BSP second23 February 2017 | 14:31 | FOCUS News Agency
Accoding to Ms Ninova, assuming such positions by her and Sergey Stanishev was a sign of respect and authority, which the BSP has evidently won on the international scene. She noted that she was invited to join the race personally by Secretary General of the Socialist International Luis Ayala. Ninova stated that she saw this as recognition for Bulgaria as a whole. According to her, the more Bulgarians there were on high international posts, the more chances there were for Bulgaria’s opinion on important topics to be heard.
The BSP leader noted that the election will take place on a congress between March 2 and 4, and that there were 31 candidates nominated. “We are expecting the election at the Columbia congress and if I get elected, I would of course defend the interests of Bulgaria at this highest international organisation,” Korneliya Ninova said and thanked Luis Ayala.
