Interim Minister of Healthcare Ilko Semerdzhiev: No health risk for the population in Haskovo for now

Sofia. For now there is no health risk, we will assess the final results from the tests quickly enough and will announce them publicly, said Minister of Healthcare Ilko Semerdzhiev regarding the quality of water in Haskovo, FOCUS News Agency reports.
“To protect the population, the state health control bodies oversee the implementation of all recommended measures. Drinking water from Voyvodovo pumping station is being distributed through water tankers, Regional Health Inspectorate Haskovo controls the quality of water. We are drawing up an interim report on the situation that will contain specific recommendations for tightening control over water sources, especially in the vicinity of closed uranium mines. For now, there is no risk to the water in Haskovo but we need 2 to 3 months to get the results from all water samples sent for biological testing,” he said.
