The trend of permanently decreasing stray dogs in Sofia will continue in the future, the manager of Four Paws Foundation, Dr. Marina Ivanova, told FOCUS Radio
. Reports for new stray or abandoned animals are received more rarely, mainly from the suburbs of the city. Meanwhile, more owners clean after their pets. More animals are adopted from shelters. According to Ivanova, this shows people’s awareness that the problem with stray animals is caused by irresponsible owners. There is an increased number of animals adopted not only from shelters but directly from the streets. Aggression against animals remains a serious problem and very few cases are investigated. Ivanova also commented that the public attitude is changing, with people becoming more responsible and open to the problems of stray dogs.
