Today, the NMH received a gold coin of Emperor Andronicus II, 1282-1328, found in Rusokastro Fortress in Burgas, where the largest feudal castle in Bulgaria with an area of 2.5 decares was discovered earlier this year (the 41 castles previously found cover an area of no more than 1 decare).
A lead Byzantine seal was found in another border fortress located near the village of Matochina by the Turkish border. Virgin Mary Orans is on the one side of the seal, and on the other there is a long inscription saying who sends the letter to the castellan. The seal is from 13th or early 14th century.
Near the village of Dyadovo in the area of Nova Zagora, the excavations sponsored by the Bulgarian Memory Dinevi Brothers Foundation were completed.
