AFP: S.Africa to send envoys to Zimbabwe over crisis

Johannesburg. South Africa said Wednesday that it will send special envoys to Zimbabwe to meet with President Robert Mugabe and the military following the army's apparent seizure of power, AFP reported.
"President Jacob Zuma, in his capacity as Chair of the Southern African Development Community, is sending Special Envoys to Zimbabwe," the South African government said in a statement.

Harare. Zimbabwean soldiers and armored vehicles blocked roads to the main government offices, parliament and the courts in central Harare, a Reuters witness said on Wednesday, after the military said it had seized power in a targeted assault on “criminals” around President Robert Mugabe, Reuters reports.

Nearby, some Zimbabweans queued for cash outside banks while public taxis ferried commuters to work.
