Minister Krasimir Valchev: We will not review the history curriculum for Grade 1019 January 2018 | 17:35 | FOCUS News Agency
In his words, this would mean that at the beginning of 2019-2020 school year, there would be no textbooks on the subject. “We will not take the risk. The curriculum is balanced. It contains facts, not evaluations. This was confirmed by renowned scientists. No one at the Ministry of Education and Science had politicised the programme and I call on the political parties not to do so,” the minister said.
“The period between 1944 and 1989 is a dividing line, while at the same time students learn relatively little about it. The allegations that fascism will not be studied are false. It is included in the Grade 9 curriculum along with Bolshevism and National Socialism,” the minister said.
“I believe history teachers will find the right way to present the material and this controversial period,” the minister added.
