Now it is high time for anti-bullying legislation in Bulgaria, as violence between children is increasingly heartless although the share of violence is not rising, psychologist Ivan Igov said in an interview with FOCUS News Agency
. He said that Bulgaria is among the few countries that still do not have any anti-bullying law. “In Bulgaria, we have 4 ministries and at least 13 institutions dealing with children’s problems, but those institutions work without coordination. Those children are not sufficiently cared for. The child is handled by one institution, then by another and a third one, and all of them shift responsibility on one another,” Ivan Igov explained. The community of Bulgarian psychologists demands an anti-bullying law to determine and coordinate the steps to be taken by all institutions when a child is at risk or shows a problematic behaviour, he added.
