The quake was mostly felt in Asenovgrad and Plovdiv and less so in the areas of Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora and Gabrovo. Dimitar Anastasov, an expert at the Asenovgrad Municipality, told FOCUS News Agency that the quake had been short but very unpleasant. There has been no indication for injuries or damage and the situation in the city is normal this morning. The same was reported for Izbeglii and Krumovo villages, close to the epicentre, and for Sadovo.
Plovdiv Mayor Ivan Totev told reporters later in the day that plumbing in a Plovdiv street was leaking as a result of last night's earthquake. The damage should be removed by the end of the day, he said.
