One of the main missions in the field of consumer law is to eliminate any boundaries that might exist between the consumers in the EU countries, Dimitar Margaritov, Chairman of the Commission for Protection of Consumers, told FOCUS Radio
about the regulation voted by the European Parliament to end geographic discrimination in online shopping. Margaritov said that no one should be treated differently simply because of their location or nationality, but all consumers should have equal opportunities in their choice of products and services online and in payment. Additionally, new rules prohibit any bank charges by online shopping via debit and credit cards, the official noted. He expects the regulation to be fully implemented towards the autumn after a few months of adaptation. The drafting of the regulation was a necessary step towards building a single digital market, Dimitar Margaritov said.
