Reducing the prices for medical equipment will affect work quality and patients, Director of Deva Maria University Hospital in Burgas Semir Abumelich told Focus Radio
, commenting on the latest decision of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). According to him, there is a great risk that many hospitals will start buying cheap medical devices. “I have ordered, despite the price reduction, not to buy items from unreliable sources from countries such as China and India. The difference, of course, will be at the expense of the hospital. However, many other medical facilities do not have the financial resources to compensate for the difference,” he said, adding that the chaos in the Bulgarian healthcare system would not end until there is a monopoly.
