Bus companies announce decision to unite into confederation

Sofia. Several national associations of the bus transport sector announced their decision to unite into a confederation. In an open letter to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, they said this will allow the sector organisations to keep their profile while responding to the state administration’s expectations for a single entity to communicate with. Given that many companies operating in passenger transport are currently not members of any organisation, each one could choose an existing or a new organisation to represent it as part of the confederation, they said.

PM orders withdrawal of bill for Bulgarian Automobile Chamber

25 June 2018 | 12:42 | FOCUS News Agency
Sofia. Bus and trucking companies are suspending their protests after Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordered the withdrawal of the bill for a Bulgarian Automobile Chamber. The prime minister announced his decision after a meeting with the carriers protesting against the draft, Focus News Agency reports. All interested parties should discuss corrections to the proposal in response to concerns in the sector about lobbyism, Borissov said, adding that the bill was only intended to create a chamber for the carriers. “I will not allow for the Ministry of Transport to have a consultative role. The principal and the one responsible for this sector is the Minister of Transport. The licences are issued there,” Borissov said.
