The total number of people registered as unemployed at end-May was 200,458, 5.0% down compared to the previous month and 14.3% YoY. Newly registered unemployed in May were 19,963. Of these, 1,258 were inactive, i.e. neither in employment nor in education, and not actively seeking work.
A total of 21,740 people found a job in May, with 91.3% of them in the real economy.
The number of job vacancies in the primary labour market in May was 21,301, with 87.3% of them in the private sector. The highest share of vacancies was reported in manufacturing (25.1%), hotels and restaurants (17.7%), trade (13.6%), real estate (13.2%), and agriculture, forestry and fisheries (5.2%).
The occupations in highest demand were: personal service workers (bartenders, waiters, cooks, housekeepers, etc.); sales workers; labourers in mining and manufacturing; aricultural, forestry and fishery labourers; stationary plant and machine operators; drivers and mobile plant operators; refuse workers and other elementary workers; food preparation assistants; cleaners; food processing, wood working, garment and other craft and related trades skilled workers.
