The Hill: Conservative analyst: Americans feel Russia conversation is 'overboard'21 July 2018 | 16:20 | FOCUS News Agency
"I think a lot of Americans feel that the conversation surrounding Russia is overboard," Harkness, a reporter for the Heritage Foundation's Daily Signal, told Hill.TV's Krystal Ball and guest host Lawrence Jones on "Rising."
"There's actually a poll that recently just came out from Gallup showing that Americans don't care much about Russia at all. It didn't even make it in the top 20 issues that Americans care about," she continued.
The Gallup poll from earlier this month asked U.S. adults their main issues of concern ahead of the 2018 elections; top responses included the economy, illegal immigration and dissatisfaction with the government/poor leadership.
Less than 0.5 percent of Americans polled said they considered Russia to be "an important problem facing the country."
However, the poll was conducted prior to President Trump's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, in which he did not condemn Russian election meddling during a joint news conference with his Russian counterpart.
While Trump tried to walk back his initial comments this week, the White House on Thursday said amid bipartisan criticism that Trump had asked national security adviser John Bolton to invite Putin to Washington for a second summit.
