IPN: President Dodon suspended from office24 September 2018 | 14:40 | FOCUS News Agency
At the beginning of the hearing, presidential adviser Maxim Lebedinschi requested to stop the examination of the application as this was filed by persons who didn’t have the right to do this. He argued that when it is about the replacement of ministers, such an approach cannot be made by MPs. As a result of deliberations, the request was rejected.
Maxim Lebedinschi said that President Igor Dodon stated his opinion about candidates Silvia Radu and Nicolae Ciubuc, noting there are serious suspicions as to the integrity of the two.
Ultimately, the Constitutional Court decided that as the Head of State two times refused to appoint the candidates proposed by the Premier, not fulfilling thus the given constitutional obligation, he will be suspended from office.
Earlier, the Constitutional Court passed judgements by which President Dodon was temporarily removed from office and the Speaker signed the decrees to name Cabinet members instead of him.
