Man tests positive for brucellosis after outbreak was confirmed in Vukovo village

Kyustendil. A man has tested positive for brucellosis after an outbreak of the disease was confirmed in the village of Vukovo, Dr. Zlatko Velichkov, the director of the Regional Health Inspectorate, told Focus Radio – Kyustendil.
In his words, only one person tested positive from the first samples taken from people who had been in contact with the holding in the village of Vukovo, where the primary outbreak of brucellosis in small ruminants was discovered. The disease is a zoonosis, that is, an animal disease that may also affect humans. The man has been hospitalised for treatment at an infectious disease hospital in the capital. The search for other people who have been in contact with the infected farm continues.

Kyustendil: No new cases of brucellosis among small ruminants in Vukovo

Kyustendil. There are no new cases of brucellosis among small ruminants in the village of Vukovo, the regional food safety department told Focus Radio. The veterinary authorities continue investigating the origin of the infection, registered in a local livestock farm. The measures imposed to prevent the spread of the disease remain in place, including a ban on transportation of animals from and to farms in Vukovo.
