NSI: Total income average per household member in Q3 2018 was BGN 1,541, 7.7% increase YoY

Income from wages and salaries had the highest relative share (55.2%), followed by income from pensions (27.3%), and from self-employment (7.7%).
The nominal average income per capita by source changed in Q3 2018 compared to Q3 2017 as follows:
Income from wages and salaries increased from 778 BGN to 851 BGN (by 9.4%);
Self-employment income increased from 110 BGN to 119 BGN (by 8.4%);
Income from pensions increased from 371 BGN to 421 BGN (by 13.4%);
Income from social benefits decreased from 43 BGN to 35 BGN (by 19.9%).
The total expenditure average per household member in Q3 2018 was 1,518 BGN, a 9.8% increase year-over-year. Expenditure on food had the greatest share (30.1%), followed by housing (16.5%), taxes and social insurance contributions (12.3%), and transport and communication (11.7%).
The absolute values of average expenditures per capita by group changed (Q3 2018 YoY) as follows:
Expenditure on food and non-alcoholic beverages increased from 416 BGN to 457 BGN (by 9.8%);
Expenditure on alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased from 58 BGN to 60 BGN (by 4.4%);
Expenditure on housing (water, electricity, heating, furnishing and home maintenance) increase from 245 BGN to 250 BGN (by 1.9%);
Healthcare costs increased from 66 BGN to 73 BGN (by 10.2%);
Transport and communication costs increased from 155 BGN to 178 BGN (by 14.6%);
Recreation, culture and education increased from 87 BGN to 104 BGN (by 19.8%);
Expenditure on taxes and social insurance contributions increased from 165 BGN to 187 BGN (by 13.3%).
The consumption of basic food products on average per household member was without considerable change in Q3 2018 compared to Q3 2017. Consumption of meat increased from 7.8 kg to 8.2 kg, and of yoghurt – from 7.3 kg to 7.7 kg. Consumption of fruit decreased from 20.2 kg to 17.8 kg, of bread and paste – from 21.8 kg to 21.3 kg, and of vegetables – from 26.2 kg to 25.8 kg. Sugar consumption remaind unchanged.
