The damaged section of the fence on the Bulgarian-Turkish border will likely be restored within a week, Burgas Governor Valcho Cholakov told Focus News Agency
. As a result of recent heavy rainfall in Strandzha an avalanche of water, mud, branches and stones toppled a few meters of the fence to the ground, he explained, adding that repair was ongoing on a very tough terrain making the area difficult to access. The damage is the result of force majeure, he said. Since the damage was detected, a border police patrol has been permanently on site.
