Sofia. What happened with the machine voting is a political disgrace, political scientist Parvan Simeonov said during a discussion on election transparency and credibility, Focus News Agency reports. “It is a shame from a political point of view, they cannot disregard it every year, elections after elections. It is clear that this cannot happen immediately, but there must be a vision. Those in power tend not to leave their comfort zone,” he commented. He said the voting process should be facilitated.Open in new tab

Sofia. By Constitution, the place to debate on the Electoral Code is the Parliament, GERB MP Danail Kirilov said to reporters when asked why his party did not attend the discussion organised by the president, Focus News Agency reports. “Nevertheless, we are not against a broad public discussion and the president organising such events. As far as I understand Central Election Commission representatives are taking part, which is good because they will present both their analysis and the audit carried out by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences on the experiments as required by law, as well as the audit by the Sofia University. There is nothing wrong to talk about it, it is bad if someone tries to distort objective facts and replace them with quite different findings,” Kirilov said. The president’s administration was not specifically invited when the draft bill was discussed at the parliament committee, but its public agenda implied an invitation to everybody, the committee chairman explained.Open in new tab
