Sofia. Aggression against medical staff in the country is growing, the Chair of the Bulgarian Association of Health Care Professionals in Nursing (BAHPN), Milka Vasileva, said to reporters. A hundred cases of aggression against medical teams have been registered for the last 2 years, mainly against paramedics, she said as the association launched a national campaign against aggression,
Focus News Agency reports. In 2017, the association together with the Bulgarian Medical Association conducted a survey among healthcare workers and patients, analysed the problem of aggressive behaviour and organised discussions. “The public was made aware of all the problems, but the problem has persisted. Aggression continues,” she said. With its campaign, the association is determined to convince people to have trust in healthcare workers. It also wants to reach out to Roma communities, which are not sufficiently aware of how the healthcare system is functioning, Vasileva added.
