Health ministry: Three more measles cases in Blagoevgrad region

Sofia. The Regional Health Inspectorate in Blagoevgrad today reported three new cases of measles in children aged 1, 2 and 3 years, two of them from Razlog and one from Dobrinishte, the Ministry of Health said. All three had been in contact with a measles patient.
Two of the children are in the Gotse Delchev hospital and the third one – in the St. Anna University Hospital in Sofia.
The children had not been vaccinated against measles for being under age or due to parental refusal.
Samples have been sent to the National Reference Laboratory. The results are expected.
Until now, 24 cases of measles have been registered in the country.

Blagoevgrad. So far 5 cases of measles have been proven in laboratory, 4 of which originate in the Blagoevgrad region, National Centre of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases Director Dr. Todor Kantardjiev told Focus Radio - Pirin. The first case is a 37-year-old woman, the others are children aged between 1 and 3 who were infected in the Blagoevgrad region, though one of them is treated in the city of Sofia. The director said his colleagues at the Regional Health Inspectorate in Blagoevgrad were so far doing very well, sending samples to the National Reference Laboratory in line with the instructions.
