Dr. Angel Kunchev: 51 cases of measles currently in Bulgaria27 February 2019 | 15:28 | FOCUS News Agency
“For people over 25-30 years of age it is difficult to track down whether they have been vaccinated," said Dr. Kunchev. According to him, at the moment, Blagoevgrad remains the core of the measles outbreak.
In his words, Bulgaria had zero cases of measles in 2014 and 2015, only one case in 2016, but 165 in 2017, and 13 cases and in 2018. “Last year, regional health inspectorates carried out 16,000 inspections across the country to check whether the vaccination schedule was kept, and issued 112 penalty notices to parents who had not vaccinated their children. In addition, general practitioners and other medical staff were also sanctioned,” he said.
