Even a symbolic participation in Earth Hour matters because the negative consequences of negligence towards our Earth and of resource use are already visible, Konstantin Hristov from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) told Focus Radio
. He said millions of people from over 188 countries would unite around the initiative on March 30, highlighting the issues of climate change and biodiversity loss. This year Earth Hour will be the Earth Day under the motto Connect with Nature, he added. In Sofia, the day will begin with a farmer’s market in the garden in front of the National Theatre, accompanied by thematic workshops where the visitors will learn about handmade decorations, homemade jams, raw crackers and cheese. The idea is to bring people closer to nature, Hristov said. For the third year in a row, WWF together with the Bulgarian Extreme and Freeride Ski Association are organising a night climb of Peak Cherni Vrah on March 30.
