In her words, through its rich musical programme the festival attracts tourists from different cities. The number of foreign visitors has also been increasing each year, mainly guests from Greece, Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Romania, the deputy mayor said. She also said the festival contributes to the positive development of the Bulgarian-French relations. "Already in the festival’s third edition, we were included in the 100 world’s events dedicated to Francophiles in a ranking by France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Blagoevgrad is a member of the International Association of Francophone Mayors – Mayor Dr. Atanas Kambitov is invited every year to their annual conference,” she said, adding that Les Francofolies is a cultural event that favours the sustainability of these relations and promotes French values. Last year the festival was attended by about 35,000 people, Shopova said, adding that they expected the same or a larger number visitors this year.
