State Reserve and Wartime Stocks State Agency providing mineral water, dry soup mixes and cans to areas affected by torrential rains in Strelcha

Sofia. The State Reserve and Wartime Stocks State Agency has released mineral water, dry soup mixes and cans as aid for overcoming the consequences of the torrential rains in the town of Strelcha and the state of emergency declared by order of the mayor of Strelcha municipality dated 10.06.2019, said the press office of the agency.
The amounts of the allocated reserves are in line with the information provided by the mayor of Strelcha on the town’s population and the needs for drinking water and food per day per person for a period of 30 days.
The reserves have been released in response to a request from the mayor and after a decision of the Council for State Reserves and Wartime Stocks.

Strelcha. By order of Mayor of Strelcha Municipality Stoyan Chachov, the state of emergency in the town has been extended by another week and will continue until 24 June 2019, said the press office of Strelcha Municipality. This has been necessitated by complications arising during the repair works on the affected water supply facilities. Water supply has been restored, yet drinking water is unfit for consumption and poses a risk to human health.
On 9 June, Strelcha Water Supply Company warned that the torrential rains that fell in the town badly affected the water catchment facilities. On 10 June, Mayor Stoyan Chachov declared a state of emergency, drinking water was found to be unfit for consumption and the water supply was stopped.
On 11 June, the municipality announced drinking water was provided to the residents.

Strelcha. The Mayor of Strelcha has declared a state of emergency in the town, Strelcha Municipality told Radio Focus - Pazardzhik. According to the order issued by Mayor Stoyno Chachov, the reason to declare a state of emergency was the complicated meteorological situation, which had led to serious issues with the Strelcha water catchment area and necessity to take urgent measures to deal with the consequences that could endanger human health and cause significant damage to property. The state of emergency was declared following repeated flooding of the water catchment facilities of the river and their filling with silt, sand, gravel, stones and woody debris, repeated interruption of water supply and depletion of water supplies in reservoirs and their silting due to damage of sections of the pipeline network.
The state of emergency will be in effect from today until June 17.
