Ministry of Interior: Two lanes open for traffic heading to Sofia via Vladaya23 September 2019 | 16:03 | FOCUS News Agency
In the afternoon, traffic on the motorways and major roads is expected to increase. Traffic Police is urging motorists to drive at a reasonable speed, to keep distance, not to take risks and be tolerant on the road.
At the moment traffic is very heavy on E-79 Sofia-bound near Simitli.
At the Hemus Motorway, repair works continue at the km 19 and 36 marks, as well as at the Vitinya tunnel in the tube towards Sofia. To ease the traffic at the repair sections, two lanes are open for traffic heading to Sofia, and one for travellers to Varna. An alternative route towards Montana and Vidin is through the Petrohan Pass and the Iskar Gorge, and in the direction of Varna – road I-1 Sofia - Botevgrad.
Today, two lanes are open for the traffic heading to Sofia via Vladaya. An alternative route to the first class road is Struma Motorway.
At this point, traffic is normal through the checkpoints at the borders with Greece, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Romania and Turkey, said Border Police. At the Bulgarian-Turkish border, at the Kapitan Andreevo and at Lesovo checkpoints, traffic is very heavy for trucks exiting the country. This is caused by repair works at the adjacent border checkpoints.
