By this time next year, Bulgaria will be able to receive liquefied natural gas from U.S., Qatar, Cyprus, Egypt, Azerbaijan – 1.2 billion, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during an inspection on the progress of the construction works of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector in Haskovo, Focus News Agency
reported. Prime Minister Borissov said that was the reason why the ambassadors of Greece, Azerbaijan and the U.S. to Bulgaria were present at the event. "This is real diversification. Next year we will be able to tell Bulgarians ‘You have no dependency and you can supply gas from anywhere, and nobody can stop you’," the prime minister said. He further said the companies involved in the construction of the pipeline were serious. "The pipeline connects to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, [the companies] have worked on it, as well; we are facing a challenge at the Studen kladenets dam because we need to go 16 metres underwater to make it stable, but they have experience, and we will help, too.”
