Minister Nikolina Angelkova: Efforts to promote organised summer tourism target Russia, UK, Visegrad Group and Germany24 January 2020 | 16:24 | FOCUS News Agency
Angelkova reminded her audience that last year Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced an additional BGN 15 million for promotion of organised tourism. The mechanism will operate from May 1 to October 31, that is, focusing on the summer tourist season.
"The analyses we have done show that, especially for the summer tourism, it is essential and principally important for tourists to arrive through tour operators, which generate more revenue. Compared to 2015, organised tourists arriving through tour operators as a percentage at some markets have declined twofold. This shows how important and timely this mechanism is," the minister said.
In her words, the procedure was made extremely transparent and in line with European rules. She said the funds will be spent efficiently, as they will be paid on the basis of real achievements and if there is an increase in the number of tourists.
15% of the funds will be paid to the tour operators upon signing the contract, and the remaining 85 only when they prove a real result.
