"Cyprus remains an important trade and economic partner and is among the leading investors in this country. We need to look for more opportunities to increase trade," Prime Minister Borisov said, stressing the potential in agriculture, tourism, energy, culture, education, science and maritime.
The meeting focused on the cooperation in the field of energy. Prime Minister Borissov said the construction of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector was crucial as it will serve as an entry point for gas imports from alternative sources for the entire Southeast Europe. The interconnector will also allow gas to be imported from the LNG terminal on the northern Greek coast and the Eastern Mediterranean pipeline. "In this context, the energy partnership between Israel, Cyprus and Greece is strategic,” he said, adding that the construction of the EastMed pipeline is of great geopolitical importance for the development of the region and Europe.
